‘Mind over Matter’ – the mantra splashed across hundreds of Pinterest boards and Lorna Jane shirts. The cliche on every gym wall. Maybe there’s a reason it resonates with so many – maybe they’re onto something?
Proverbs 4:23 speaks about guarding your thoughts because they run you’re life. And don’t they so? Have you ever been in a bad space and then an encouraging conversation with a friend and a good coffee shifted your perspective and thinking – didn’t it change your day? You see your thoughts have power, just as your words create worlds. What you speak starts with what you think. What you think starts with what you believe.
I believe so strongly in the power of positivity, that the power of your mind can change everything. Not the teleporting kind of mind power (that would be cool), but rather the power of your mind in the ability to choose your thoughts. Thoughts that will shape who you are and how you act. What you give your thoughts to has power over you. Choose well. When you can’t control what’s happening (which is mostly always), challenge yourself to control your thoughts – thats where the power is.
Take exercise for instance, does it come naturally to us? not always, but imagine we neglected the the potential to become the best versions of ourselves. My sister is my role model when it comes to this. She has so much determination and passion to love herself well. So If I am choosing the journey of discovering the best version of me, this includes being kind to my self, my mind and kind to my body. Controlling your thoughts is controlling your attitude; THIS is mastering change. THIS is what will take us forward. THIS is choosing a better us for a better tomorrow. If we want to be the solution to change, we need to be the best versions of us.
Our disposition is not determined by what happens to us, but rather how we react to it; choosing to find gratitude and positivity in everything – choosing to find life. Either our matters control our mind, or our mind chooses what matters. Its all about the thoughts you allow, the thoughts you choose. According to science, human muscles are only limited to our brain… we actually have strength to move cars and boulders (cue the supermom moment). Thats the power of the mind. So why do this on your own? WE ARE BETTER TOGETHER!
Let’s be those unstoppable’s? The crazy optimists, the beautiful thinkers and dreamers – lets inspire positive thought? Lets inspire hope in our country and in her people, lets rebel from negativity? Wherever you find yourself, in the good or bad, you have the power to effect change – to impact people – it all starts in your mind.
